Orlando
With so many attractions right on your doorstep, Orlando is one of the top holiday destinations for families and couples who want to pack as much into their holiday as possible.
Orlando is the theme park capital of the world, playing host to the likes of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Busch Gardens, Legoland and several water parks - there’s an exhilarating rollercoaster and movie-themed ride here for everyone. The great thing about the theme parks here is that even if being shot up in the air upside down at 60mph isn’t for you, there’s plenty of other things to do in the parks. You’ll find shops, spectacular shows, fireworks displays, parades, characters to meet, gentler rides to enjoy, immersive experiences and so much more.
As well as thrilling experiences, Orlando is a great destination for shopping. There are designer outlets where you can bag a great bargain or two and the large malls are packed full of every shop you can think of, so you can treat yourself to something new while on holiday.
“There is so much to do in Orlando, even if you don’t want to do the Disney World parks, and the shopping is fabulous. If you still want to experience the theme park atmosphere, but don’t fancy Disney, then Legoland is a great day out for all the family - my children adored it!”

KEY FACTS

1. Experience the magic
No trip to Orlando would be complete without visiting the Walt Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks. Dine in Be Our Guest in the Beast’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom, go on an Animal Kingdom safari, and let the wand choose the wizard in Ollivander’s Wand Emporium in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can meet your favourite characters, watch the colourful parades and marvel at the jaw-dropping fireworks and light shows every evening. There is magic everywhere you turn, just make sure you don’t miss any of it.

2. Shop ‘til you drop
Orlando is a mecca for shopping – and not just for the latest Disney pin or plush. Outlet malls are fantastic here and you will definitely get a bargain, so make sure to leave some space in your suitcase for all your treats. The Mall at Millenia is full of designer and high street stores for every budget, as well as the likes of The Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang’s for dinner. Head to the Florida Mall for family-fun too, including The Crayola Experience and M&M’s World. For the big savings, visit the Orlando International Premium Outlets for hugely discounted designer goodies.

3. Kennedy Space Center
If you’ve ever dreamed about being an astronaut, or looked up at the stars in wonder, then the Kennedy Space Center is well worth a visit. You can hop on a bus tour of the vast site with an experienced guide to tell you all about the Space Center, get a close up look at space shuttle Atlantis, or even dine with a real astronaut. Another highlight is the Heroes & Legends area featuring the US Astronaut Hall of Fame, so don’t miss that. If you time your visit carefully, you may even be able to watch a history-making rocket launch.

4. Catch a game
Sport is a huge part of the US culture, so while you’re in Florida, visit the impressive Amway Center to see the Orlando Magic basketball team in action. Not only is basketball itself exciting, but the entertainment before, during and after the last basket is dunked, is so much fun. Think party atmosphere, music, cheerleaders and lots of freebies – it’s a great night out for all the family.
