WHY VISIT TENERIFE?
Beautiful landscapes
Tenerife is an island of contrasts. In the north, you’ll find rocky, volcanic beaches, surrounded by green grassland and banana plantations. The south offers some sandy beaches – particularly in Adeje, so you can top up your vitamin D!
With breath-taking views, Teide National Park is home to an impressive volcanic structure. It’s even more magical at night! Stargaze from the highest peak in Spain and watch the wonders of the sky.
There are also hidden gems to be discovered, including the black caves, jungles and waterfalls in Erjos, plus the Arch of Takao in San Miguel de Tajao.
Family fun
With parks for the whole family, including Jungle Park near Los Cristianos and Siam Park, the children will be entertained with water slides and endless fun! Or why not step beyond the tourist hotspots to explore local villages and snorkel with turtles?
For the adults, Tenerife is full of traditional cuisine, delicious wine and tasting experiences. There are also plenty of natural swimming pools to enjoy, including the crystal-clear waters of Charco de la Laja.
Year-round sunshine
For sun-seekers, the hottest time to visit Tenerife is typically between June and September, with August being the warmest month.
As the island has a sub-tropical climate, it can offer sunshine all year round! If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, temperatures can still reach the low 20s during December and January, making this the perfect destination for a winter sun escape.

“Tenerife is like two worlds in one. In the north, it’s green and beautiful, and in the south, there are golden beaches and volcanic peaks.
There’s fantastic cuisine including traditional Mediterranean food, Italian, and English breakfasts. You can rent a car and explore the whole island, with it being just under a two-hour drive to get from one side of Tenerife to the other.
I’d recommend a trip to a banana plantation as it’s a really unique experience, and Siam Park with its beautiful scenery and attractions.”
INSIDER TIPS
We have RCI resorts in both the north and south of Tenerife. If you’re a fan of a relaxing beach-holiday, then the southern part of the island might be a better option. If you’re looking for adventure or picturesque surroundings, then head to the north. If you’re spoilt for choice, you can always rent a car or go on a day trip to explore both parts of the island.
Tenerife South–Reina Sofía Airport, also known as Tenerife South airport, is the main and busiest airport on the island offering international flights. There’s also Tenerife North airport, which is smaller but closer to resorts in the north.
Be sure to do your research on public transport options for bus and shuttle services, or you can rent a car if you prefer the flexibility of getting around on your own.
There are lots of incredible festivals on the island to keep you entertained. Taking place in February or March every year, ‘Carnival’ in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the biggest festival in Europe, and the second biggest festival in the world! There are fiestas and celebrations happening throughout the year, so be sure to see what’s on before you travel.
